Domain was established in 1998 by Moorfield Group. Through managing its diverse portfolio of assets in many areas and sectors of the UK market, Moorfield Group recognised there was an unsatisfied demand for quality student and key worker accommodation in most major cities.
The principle behind this initiative was, and remains, to meet the market need for accommodation that is of a high standard, but making it affordable to students and key workers. As a result, Domain provides modern accommodation close to educational and/or workplace locations. Room sizes are typically larger than the average competitive provision, and have en-suite facilities, with the latest technology provisions within safe and secure self-contained and well maintained campus developments.
Domain works with universities, NHS Trusts and local authorities to provide high quality affordable accommodation. It has built some 6,000 beds across major cities in the UK. Moorfield manages the development of all Domain schemes from identifying and acquiring the site through design, financing, planning, construction, marketing, opening and then operating the schemes. Sites are identified following a detailed analysis of cities with established higher educational facilities and the quantity and quality of existing alternative accommodation.
Domain currently has 1 University let scheme in Winchester, 1,487 bed purpose built scheme in Exeter scheduled for completion in 2013 as well as a pipeline of development sites having sold approximately 5,000 beds to Liberty Living in 2006 and IES London Residence on the Kings Road, Chelsea in 2011.
